CFO Meets CIO Thumbnail

More and more women are taking financial responsibility for managing the finances of their home, at least according to a study by Allianz Life Insurance Company. *

Nearly half (49%) of all women consider themselves to be the CFO (Chief Financial Officer) of their households, up from 41% in 2021.

Let’s take a closer look at this dynamic in action and discuss the rest of the story.

In the realm of personal finance, women have historically shouldered the responsibility of managing household expenses, often wielding the checkbook with precision.

However, as societal dynamics evolve, there has been a notable shift towards women taking charge of investment decisions as well.

Unfortunately, according to a recent Fidelity “Women & Investing Study,” only 19% of women “feel confident selecting investments that align with their goals.” *

It is time to change that narrative. It is time to take it upon ourselves to introduce The Coffeehouse Investor to everyone (women and girls, men and boys) so that household CFOs can boldly claim the title of CIO (Chief Investment Officer) as well.

When household CIOs create portfolios of broad market index and passively managed funds, it gives them confidence that they are maximizing returns in their entire portfolio. No more second-guessing, no more wondering why, no more 19%. (Let’s shoot for 100%.)

More importantly, this approach allows household CFOs to redirect their focus towards more important aspects of financial planning.

For women and men who are increasingly taking the reins of their financial destiny, embracing The Coffeehouse Investor approach can serve as a beacon of financial wisdom, allowing them to deftly navigate the complexities of investing with confidence, and focus on what truly matters in their lives.
